Cowboys: Receiver Glenn softens rhetoric
Posted D.A. Louis  June 20, 2008
MySA.com Reports:
Disgruntled Cowboys receiver Terry Glenn indicated Wednesday he could be ready to mend fences with
team owner Jerry Jones and join the team for training camp next month in Oxnard, Calif.

“I want Jerry to understand I know he has the ultimate power in everything that goes on with the Cowboys,
and I’m not trying to challenge him in any way, shape or form,” Glenn said. “He can — and will — determine
the outcome of this because it’s ultimately his decision.”
Receivers' absences cause stir as Cowboys open minicamp
Posted By D.A. Louis  June 18, 2008
Express News Reports:
The matter of receiver Terry Glenn's absence wasn't handled so gracefully, especially after he told various
media outlets he doesn't expect to be with the team much longer.
“I was told I'll be cut if I didn't sign the waiver,” Glenn told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “What I'm saying is
I'm not signing the waiver. So I guess they're going to release me as promised.

“I just want to get on with my career and be somewhere where someone wants my abilities.”

News of Glenn's icy comments caught owner Jerry Jones off guard.

“I haven't talked to him about that,” Jones said. “We'll just see what happens between now and training
camp.”
DE Ellis Unhappy With Role
Posted by Jay Miles  June 12, 2008
Dallas Cowboys linebacker Greg Ellis still hasn’t talked to the media since boycotting organized team
activity workouts two weeks ago over diminished practice reps.

Ellis returned to work last week after talking with coach Wade Phillips. While his presence at practice this
week could be construed as his attempt to do what’s best for the team, it doesn’t mean Ellis is happy with
his situation.

While walking off the field following practice Wednesday, Ellis declined an interview request by simply
saying, "You know the deal."

In other words, Ellis remains distrustful of the Cowboys' motives regarding his diminished practice reps.

The Cowboys say they are trying to take a longer look at backup Anthony Spencer and prolong Ellis’ career
by reducing his workload.
Cowboys give Glenn an ultimatum
Posted by D.A. Louis  June 5, 2008
Star-Telegram Reports:
But an NFL source said the Cowboys have told Glenn to either sign the $500,000 injury waiver for his
surgically-repaired right knee or prepare to play elsewhere. And that time is growing short for Glenn’s
decision.

Glenn is due $1.74 million this season. By signing an injury waiver, if he injures his right knee at any time,
that $1.74 million would be nullified and he would be paid a pro-rated $500,000. If he was to suffer any
other injury other than to his right knee, he would be paid the full $1.7 million.
Chad Johnson ponders Eagles - and Cowboys
Posted by D.A. Louis  June 5, 2008
The Philadelphia Inquirer Reports:
The good news for Eagles fans is that Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Johnson is at least thinking
about wearing green.

The bad news is he's also thinking about life with a star on the side of his helmet.

"If I can get out of Cincinnati, the sky's the limit," Johnson told ESPN the Magazine. "What could I do in a
place like Philadelphia or Dallas? It would be ridiculous. It's gonna be like a whole new me, like Ocho Cinco
2.0."

Johnson, who for some reason is serving as a guest editor for the magazine, said in the same story that he
plans to play for the Bengals this season.

"Am I coming back?" he asked rhetorically. "Of course I am. I told my coaches I'm going to California to act,
but the truth is I may come back to the Bengals as early as June. I may be crazy, but I'm not stupid."
Dallas Cowboys closer to deal with Newman
Posted by D.A. Louis  May 20, 2008
The Dallas Morning News Reports:
The Dallas Cowboys and cornerback Terence Newman are close to agreeing on a new multi-year contract,
according to two sources, but the deal faces a tight deadline.\

If NFL owners opt out of the current collective bargaining agreement at their spring meeting today in
Atlanta, contracts done afterward would have to follow more stringent salary-cap rules set up for 2010 and
beyond.

Newman, 29, is entering the final year of his contract and is due a base salary of $1.4 million. Like they did
with Tony Romo, Jason Witten, Bradie James and Jay Ratliff, the Cowboys would like to lock up Newman,
who made his first Pro Bowl last season, with a long-term deal.

Newman tied career highs in interceptions (four) and pass deflections (15) in 2007 despite missing three
games and playing most of the year with a foot injury.
Whispers surrounding Williams starting to grow louder
Posted by D.A. Louis  May 20, 2008
Star-Telegram.com Reports:
There are those at Valley Ranch who say Williams has no job-security issues for now, but training camp
and the exhibition season could possibly change that in a hurry, depending on Roy's work ethic and
attitude. Then again, Roy is a Jerry favorite, meaning it's also a bit of a stretch to think his job could really
be on the line once the Cowboys invade California in late July.

But not even Mr. Jones can be pleased with Williams' rapidly deteriorating game, plus with the weirdness
that has engulfed him this spring.

Within the last couple of weeks, Roy has told Michael Irvin (the new Father Flanagan for troubled NFL
players) on local ESPN radio that at times he's hoping the ball isn't thrown his way because he's not
comfortable with certain matchups, and that admission was followed by teammate Greg Ellis attempting to
come to Williams' defense.
