Round 1: Rashard Mendenhall, RB Illinois (Steelers, 23rd overall)
One of the best running backs in the draft fell in the lap of the
Steelers. Some experts had him the #1, or at least the #2 back in this
draft. Mendenhall has great size, very explosive, and can catch out of
the backfield. Will be an excellent complement to Willie Parker.
Round 2: Devin Thomas, WR Michigan State (Redskins, 34th overall)
Was very close to picking Phillip Merling here, but the Skins get the best
receiver in the draft in Round 2. What makes Thomas very valuable
to Washington is not only being a big target (6'2, 215), but having the speed
and hands to go with it. Should fit nicely in Zorn's west coast offense.
Round 3: Mario Manningham, WR Michigan (Giants, 95th overall)
Character issues had Manningham slip to the 3rd round, but the Giants get
a receiver who can create big plays for their offense. Has a good chance, depending how fast he learns and develops, to see
significant playing time in '08.
Round 4: Dre Moore, DT Maryland (Buccaneers, 115 overall)
A very aggressive defensive tackle with good speed, the Bucs hope that Moore can prove some stability at the tackle that they
have not had since Warren Sapp left.
Round 5: Marcus Howard, LB Georgia (Colts, 161 overall)
A very athletic linebacker, who plays very smart. Howard will provide linebacker depth for the Colts and
he gives them another pass rusher that they could use in their rotation.
Round 6: Andre' Woodson, QB Kentucky (Giants, 198 overall)
Woodson should have never fell to Round 6. In my opinion, one of the best quarterbacks in the draft despite the Senior Bowl. It
may be a blessing in disguise for him being able to learn from Eli Manning.
Round 7: Steve Johnson, WR Kentucky (Bills, 224 overall)
With Buffalo waiting late to pick a receiver, picking Johnson in the 7th Round is not a bad pick at all. Johnson can play either
outside receiving position and the slot. He has good speed and has a great shot of making the team.
