The Pro Gridiron Football Draft GPA will grade each teams pick and giving it and overall score...Like a report card.  I will look at each
player picked, the players available at the pick, the value of the pick, and how the pick will fit with the needs of their team.  Highest
possible grade is 4.0

Philadelphia Eagles
Round 2:  Trevor Laws, DT Notre Dame  Grade: B
Will work better as a 4-3 tackle than a 3-4 end.  Laws is strong player but needs to be more aggressive pursuing plays.

DeSean Jackson, WR California  Grade: A
The Eagles fill two voids with one in Jackson getting a dynamic kick returner and a explosive playmaker at wide receiver.   He is a very
good route runner with good hands, but may struggle with bigger corners in getting off the line of scrimmage in press coverage.
Round 3:  Bryan Smith, LB McNeese State  Grade: C
Played defensive end in college, but definitely will be a linebacker in the pros.  Has good speed, but lacks the experience reading plays as a
linebacker.
Round 4:  Mike McGlynn, OT Pittsburgh  Grade: A
Great pick in the 4th round by the Eagles.  McGlynn had a very good year at Pitt and at the senior bowl.  A very good run blocker, but
must improve a little on pass blocking.

Quintin Demps, S  Texas El-Paso  Grade: B
Great speed and good intelligence.  Will work good in the Eagles defensive scheme.

Jack Ikegwuonu, CB Wisconsin   Grade: C
More than likely will not see the field this year because of tearing his ACL in January.  I watched a lot of Big 10 games and see that he is
good playing zone coverage, but does not have the recovery speed to catch up if he is behind the receiver.
Round 6:  Mike Gibson, OT California  Grade: C
Not a good fit a tackle.  Good in pass protection, but struggles with speed rushers.

Joe Mays, LB North Dakota State  Grade: B
Scouts have critizied his height, but he makes it up with his run stopping ability and tackling.  Good pick for a 6th rounder.

Andy Studebaker LB, Wheaton  Grade: B
A very good pass rushing end in college, but with his size (6'3 251) will have to adjust to playing linebacker at the pro level.
Round 7:  King Dunlap, OT Auburn   Grade: D
Went from first day pick to the seventh round in one season.  Lost his starting spot in his senior season.  Has good size, but has had
weight issues in the past.
Eagles GPA: 2.70
They tried to fill positions of need, but reached on a lot of draft picks and needed more than one receiver.  They took a lot of risks on picks
such as, Bryan Smith, Jack Ikegwuonu, and Mike Gibson.  They did have good picks in Trevor Laws and DeSean Jackson, who should
see significant playing time.  Could have been a much better draft for the Eagles.

Washington Redskins
Round 2:  Devin Thomas, WR Michigan State  Grade: A
Trading back to Round 2, they still get probably the best receiver in the draft.  Thomas has the speed, hands, vertical, and the ability to run
after the catch the Redskins need.  He will be a excellent compliment to Santana Moss and Antwaan Randle El.  Could be the missing piece
of the receiving puzzle.

Fred Davis, TE USC   Grade: B
I thought they would pick an end here, but I guess they though Davis was too good to pass up.  He gives them more versatility on offense
with the ability with him and Chris Cooley in double tight end formations.  Good speed and hands for the tight end position, but must
improve blocking.

Malcolm Kelly, WR Oklahoma  Grade: B
Washington added more receiver depth in drafting Kelly.  A very good red zone target and possession receiver in college, but needs to
catch the ball with his hands instead of his chest.
Round 3:  Chad Rinehart, OT Northern Iowa  Grade: A
Could turn into a starter within the next couple of years.  Very good on pass and run blocking and can get to the second level of blocking.
Round 4:  Justin Tryon, CB Arizona State  Grade: C
Good speed and plays good press coverage for his size, but needs to improve on his tackling and over pursues plays routes sometimes.
Round 6:  Durant Brooks, P Georgia Tech  Grade: A
A position they should have attended to a couple of years ago.  Brooks was rated as the best punter in the draft will have a very good
chance of taking the position away from current starter Derrick Frost.
Round 6:  Kareem Moore, S Nicholls State  Grade: A
The Redskins always find talent in the later rounds or rookie free agents and I think this may be the person this year.  More has good
speed, ball skills, and the intelligence to play safety in the pros.

Colt Brennan, QB Hawaii  Grade: D
Was not impressed with Brennan in college.  I do not think he is a "system quarterback" he just does not show up against elite competition
and gets rattled too easy.
Round 7:  Rob Jackson, DE Kansas State  Grade: B
Good pass rusher for a 7th rounder, but must learn to stop the run better.

Chris Horton, FS UCLA  Grade: B
A very athletic safety who plays good zone coverage and has the chance to make the team as a special teamer.
Redskins GPA: 3.10
Washington has had one of their best drafts in recent years the picks of Fred Davis and Colt Brennan were puzzling, especially Davis
because there was not a dying need of a tight end that high when they needed a pass rushing defensive end.  The picks of Devin Thomas
and Malcolm Kelly gives new coach Jim Zorn the big receiving targets they needed in the passing game.
